Greetings! My name is Bonnie Rose and I am the author behind the blog, A Compass Rose, an ex-pat lifestyle blog. I was so excited when Alesha asked me to guest post for her this week. I moved to England with my husband and sons in 2011 and have not looked back. We currently live outside Bath, England in Somerset which is in the South West part of the country. One of my favourite things about where we live is our close proximity to Solsbury Hill. It is the location that inspired Peter Gabriel's song with the same name and is what we see outside our dining and living room windows.
When we moved into our current place a few days before Christmas my mum and sister had been in town for the holidays. We took this photo from our back garden with Solsbury hill in the background. We love to climb to the top as we can see all of the surrounding towns and a perfect place to inspire creativity as I love to go up there to write.
Another plus of our current location are watching the hot air balloons that pop up around the hill and even fly over our house. We are located just enough to the country and just close enough to the city to have the best of both worlds and we could not be more content.
There are lots of great sights within Bath that you should see when you come but I have to recommend the following:
The Royal Crescent and have a picnic in Victoria Park
Take a walk around the gardens near the Pulteney Bridge and visit the cafes on the bridge for a view of the Bath Weir.
Enjoying a typical Sunday roast at the pub
Pimm's is the perfect Summer drink!
I hope you have enjoyed a little walk through of what our life
is like here in England and why we love our ex-pat life so much.
